The Lang Residence, located in North Seattle, is a mid-century home overlooking the Thornton Creek Watershed. Used as a group home for developmentally disabled for over 20 years, the interior had suffered heavy use and heavier damage. While the physical structure was sound, commercial fire alarm and sprinkler systems dotted the low ceilings and small bedrooms, rudimentary commercial kitchen, wheelchair accessible bathrooms, pill dispensary and staff room. Most people would have considered it a tear down, but the homeowners could see its potential and after consulting with NCH decided to restore it to its former glory

The homeowners were committed to completely remodeling the entire living space by opening the rooms and vaulting the ceilings, bring in more natural light and create an open floor plan. Primary concern to the owners was that the home be designed to accommodate their love of entertaining and their busy family life with an eye towards low environmental impact. New Classic Homes was able to provide design and material ideas that were both contemporary and classic.
